Courses

I really love teaching in a way that inspires students to see where they can have a positive impact in the world, particularly on people and water!  In the course I teach almost every semester, ‘Water sustainability in the Anthropocene’ (ECOL 2200), we explore the connections between different sectors of water use, local water resources, conduct group projects that are ‘wins’ for people, prosperity, and the planet, and delve into a systems-level analysis of a particular water-related issue. Here’s a recent syllabus for ECOL 2200.

I teach or have taught several courses at the graduate and undergraduate level that include Freshwater Ecosystems, Concepts and Approaches in Ecosystem Ecology, Senior Seminar in Ecology, and other courses.

Research and internship opportunities

I also offer research and technical opportunities for undergraduates in my laboratory, as well as supporting graduate student research (prospective students). My students and I have a weekly or bi-weekly lab meeting, where we discuss new papers as well as our own research findings. Please contact me if you are interested in working with our lab group.
